A Year In Review

Since I have been so bad about updating the blog, I am going to try to recap some of my favorite things Bo has said or done in the past year. Please feel free to add any thoughts or stories I may leave out. I am sure this will just be the first of many sessions trying to catch things up.

- The Clock Tower... Bo is obcessed with the city clock tower. We have to stop everytime we ride down town to wait for it to chime the hour. He now compares everyhing in size to it. Today he told me that eating his lunch would make him as big as a clock tower. Everytime we get in the car he starts looking for it. One morning about a month back, he began telling me that he saw the clock tower while we were driving down Hwy 27. I argued and explained we could not see it from where we were. Well, he showed me! He quickly let me know that he saw it on "that green sign" on the side of the road. I looked back in the rear view to see the Greater Rome Bank sign with the clock tower logo. He so impressed a lady in the book store at the down town library with his interest in the clock tower that she personally bought him a magnet. This was right after Christmas and I promise it is one of his most prized possessions.

- Singing... Bo LOVES to sing! He litterally sings all the time. If he does not have a song in mind he just makes one up. He has made himself famous among friends and neighbors lately performing Amazing Grace. He has sang it so much that when he was sick a few weeks back the lady in the urgent care office asked, "Is he the little boy that can sing Amazing Grace?" I must have looked at her funny, because she quickly explained that she remembered his face from once when my mom took him with her to the doctor and he sang for the whole office. Well needless to say, sick or not Bo sang agian and loved every minute of it. I have got to get a video of this online for all to see. Besides singing Amazing Grace, we are working on learning verses of scripture put to song. We listen to them in the car. Well, recently when I went to give Bo medicine for his allergies he asked, "Will this medicine give me a joyful heart?" Apparently he did remember that the verse says, "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." He just did not fully understand!

Long Time No Post

Yes, I realize that it has been forever since I have updated! Hey what can I say? If you are a school teacher you definately understand. After the last Spring break it is like the kids go wild and you are doing good just to keep afloat! Needless to say, the last thing I was thinking about was updating our blog. Well, I know I have alot of catching up to do so I better get busy. Below are some pictures from Easter etc. I will take some more soon to post.

Happy Birthday Bo!

It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing Bo home from the hospital. He has grown so fast and this past year has been such a blessing!

This past Saturday we had a family party for Bo at GiGi and Pop's house. Bo of course was very excited to see Ava when she got there. They stay together on Mondays and are so close! It is precious to watch them together. They really love each other!

The cake - for the adults.

We were so glad Mary Ellen could come. She is so great with Bo! Side note - I made the shirt Bo is wearing. So many people have little jumpers etc. made but a t shirt just seemed more practical for us.

If you have ever attended a family birthday at our house you will understand why the wax is fixing to drip on Bo's cake. My family thinks it is fun to sing lots of Birthday songs.

Finally the songs were over and Bo got to try his cake. He was not sure at first.

Ava was watching Bo so intently! We let her dig in beside Bo. We figured it would be twice the fun to watch!
Ava was very concerned about making sure that Bo got a bite of cake. She decided she better help him out and tried to feed him. It was PRECIOUS!

Bo got frustrated trying to eat and decided to just bite the cake.

I was surprised that Bo stayed this clean.

We had to get a picture of all of the cousins before cleaning up.

Present time!

Bo's granddaddy made him a special piggy bank. Our pastor gave us the idea of a bank that had 3 sections. One for tithing, one for saving, and one for spending. Bo's grandfather went the extra mile making a beautiful bank with engraved plates and all!
Bo had a great day!

February in a flash!

I apologize for not posting more recently, but Bo is consuming my time as he is into everything! Here a few cute shots of him I managed to get during February.

Rainy days were so much fun with his dinosaur rain coat. I think he looks so cute!

Bo is always so precious in the mornings. It makes it so much harder to leave him and go to work. Here are a few pictures I captured on the way out of the door one morning.

Bo is in LOVE...

Bo is now in love... with his daddy's laptop computer! He has recently discovered this amusing "toy". This along with other distractions we will mention later, have contributed to my lack of blogging. It has almost become impossible to use the laptop when Bo is anywhere around. He immediately begins moving towards it and is getting very fast. Recently, he managed to pull it off the table, and then pull off some keys from the keyboard before we noticed he had found it. Bo is now pulling up very easily and getting braver by the day. He is VERY mobile. His arm being broken in December set him back a little with crawling, but he is quickly making up for lost time.

In early January Bo really began to figure out crawling. One afternoon when I picked him up, Mrs. Troylene and I discussed his "crawling". She said it was so funny! I agreed but then realized exactly what she meant when we got home. Bo for some reason has always had this notion that crawling has a lot to do with standing on your head. Bo began by putting his head on the floor with his hands beside. After walking his feet up to his forehead, he would then begin to walk out with his hands. He would slowly move his hands out on the floor until he laid flat again, and then start walking with his feet until they once again hit his head. I know this process sounds really complicated and it looked it too! He was like an inchworm! I am however, sad to say that I did not get it on video that night and he figured out a better way the next day. Therefore I hope my memories will be enough.

I am sorry to report, however, that January was not the healthiest month for Bo or our family in general. He had another ear infection in early January which resulted in getting tubes. He did great with the surgery and seemed to feel better quickly. That is, until last week. Bo had just been to see the ENT and gotten a good report on his ears. That is when he developed an ear infection and cough in less than 24 hours. As a preventative measure, and out of fear of the ER on the weekend, we decided to take him to the doctor Friday. I figured he really just had a bad cold. I was surprised to learn that he actually had bronchitis and another ear infection. It became obvious quickly that he was really feeling rough. As the day progressed he felt worse, and I started feeling bad as well. I decided to go to the doctor that evening. I also learned that I had bronchitis. Saturday morning Jason began feeling bad and also had to make a trip to the doctor. I feel like I have moved in the the TB ward! We have all been taking breathing treatments and antibiotics. Needless to say, our family has gotten to know our doctors well in the last few months!

OK, so now on to some more exciting stuff. After all, we all know you really check the blog just to hear about Bo. He now has 2 bottom teeth and 4 upper ones. He cut the top four over the Christmas holidays. His newest thing is playing peek-a-boo. He does not quite understand however. You see, Bo thinks that he should cover my eyes. He covers them up and then pulls his hands away all excited and waits for me to exclaim peek-a-boo! I have been trying to get him to cover his own eyes, but all he does is cover his cheeks or ears instead. I guess he does not want to miss anything!
Our vocabulary now includes:
Baa Baa (bottle)
Bye (which only counts once you leave and if it is repeated at least 100 times.)
the P sound for Pop and peek-a-boo
Mama, Dada, and lots of gibberish that has yet to be interpreted!

Besides our laptop, Bo also has many other favorite toys. These great toys include our cell phones, the TV remote (and no he is not fooled by the DVD remote or an old one), empty or half empty water bottles, the coasters on the coffee table, any new magazines that I have not yet gotten to read, the mirror in our foyer, and cords to anything he can reach! Please note that none of the actual toys he owns have been included in this list. I can assure you that they are all sitting neatly in the basket in the living room where we keep them, as he never chooses them!

Well, I am sure that by now those who worry about spelling and grammar mistakes are getting high blood pressure. Therefore, for your safety I probably should stop writing. Hopefully things will slow down soon (or in 18 years) and I can get back to blogging on a more regular basis.

I have not taken any really recent pictures as we have all been sick, but I did find one from earlier in January to share below.

WHEW

OK, so I have fallen way behind on the blogging here lately. Hey, what can I say, it has been a CRAZY past month or so. We have TONS of catching up to do, but I will try to make it brief... mostly because there is no way I can remember it all and it's getting late.

Lets see... as of my last post Bo had broken his arm... well the month of December was full of thankful prayers for good health insurance... A week after the arm injury, Bo got a double ear infection and double pink eye. Jason got sick, and I got sick. Jason and Bo both went through 2 rounds of antibiotics each. Bo was better by Christmas but Jason remained sick until New Years.

Christmas was great reguardless of the illnesses. Bo officially was able to stop wearing his sling the Monday before Christmas. At that time the doctor said he was clinically fully healed. Since then he has been released from the Dr.'s care and his arm is 100%.

One of the major hold ups in me posting has been wanting to put the videos of Christmas online. Well, unfortuantly I am challenged in this area. I cannot figure it out! I am also sad to say that since I was focusing on videos I do not have as many pictures, or atleast on my camera. Below are a few.
One of Bo's gifts was a full Little People Nativity Set from his grandparents (Jason's parents). Since Bo is still a little to young to understand it, Will really enjoied helping put it together while Bo and Ava chewed on the pieces. Hopefully this will be a fun experience for years to come.

Jason and I helping Bo open his presents.

For those who were unaware or have forgotten, Jason and I were married on Dec. 25th in 2005. This Christmas made for 3 years that we have been married. Each year Jason and I typically have gone some where during the span of Christmas to New Years to celebrate. This year we went to Charleston. We had to delay our trip a little due to Jason being sick, but were able to leave New Years Eve morning. Bo stayed with his granparents and Pop and GiGi while we were gone. We are not sure about what all they did, but we know Bo seemed to have had fun and not missed us hardly at all. Below is Jason's favorite picture from our trip.

In case you do not recognize her, the highlight of Jason's trip was meeting Dr. Ruth. He wanted to share about this photo. Here are his comments. "This is my new best friend Dr. Ruth Westheimer. We danced the night away New Years Eve." As you can tell Jason is obviously living in some dream world. While we did get a glimpse of her in the lobby and snap a picture, she only told us Happy New Year. Aparently, Dr. Ruth was there as a part of Renaissance Weekend. Jason and I were oblivious to this event until learning about it on our trip. Contrary to rumors started by my lovely family, no Jason and I did not go to some sex therapy weekend retreat.

Back home Bo was having lots of fun with his grandaddy and Pop. I do not think that Bo made it until midnight, but that did not stop him from getting to take part in the banging of pots and pans.

I know that this does not totally catch us up totally, but I will be working towards that. I mean, hey, I cannot cover almost 2 months with just one post. Check back for more!
